Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football team based in
Phoenix,
Arizona. They are members of the National Football League (
NFL) and compete in the NFC West division. The franchise was established in 1898 as the
Chicago Cardinals, and moved to St. Louis in
1960 before relocating to
Arizona in
1988. The Cardinals have been playing their home games at the University of
Phoenix Stadium since
2006.
The Cardinals have been one of the most successful teams in the
NFL since their move to
Arizona, having won two NFC championships (
2008,
2009) and making it to the Super Bowl in
2009. The franchise has also seen some of its greatest success in recent years, with the team making the playoffs in five of the last seven seasons.
